- Check your telescope for collimation (astigmatism) problems
- Gather all the necessary components and check their condition and functionality (recommended: create an "Astro Equipment Checklist" in the “ToDo” app available for Windows or iOS)
- Check the collimation of your telescope if you are using a reflector type telescope such as the TS-Optics 8" Ritchey-Chrétien Pro RC Telescope 203/1624 mm OTA
- Take some white frames or flat frames to check the optical cleanliness of your scope, filters and camera
- Check and recharge all batteries
- Clean all lenses, mirrors and the camera sensor
- Don't forget to pack warm clothes, hats, gloves and whatever you need to keep you warm
- Also remember to bring something warm to drink and a small snack
- Make sure you have you have all the software updates installed on your computer so that it doesn't suddenly reboot while you're shooting!
