All Sky Polar Alignment with ASIAIR Invisible Polaris |
updated: 2024-10-24 |
If Polaris is invisible from the current location of the telescope, the ASIAIR Plus can still be used to perform a fairly simple polar alignment.
Please note the following steps:
- Move the telescope in a direction with an unobstructed view of the sky; this should definitely be to the south or north, but west or east is not suitable.
- activate the All Sky feature on the ASIAIR:
- Activate the Polar Alignment from the Main Menu
- Start the Polar Alignment
- The mount will start taking photos and will slew the mount a couple of times (4x) and ASIAIR will display the alignment error as if you where pointing to Polaris.
- Activate the Auto Refresh box and correct the alignment until you are satisfied with the result (same procedure as if you where pointing to Polaris).
- When done, slew the mount back into home position
- You're done!
