De-Linearize the Image

PixInsight	De-Linearize the Image	updated: 2025-10-28
Purpose	Previous editing steps always used unstretched or linear images. If these were exported, the result would be a mostly black image. Therefore, the final image must be stretched in the last step. This chapter will show you ways to achieve a stretched final image.
Stretching Alternatives	Histogram Stretch: this is the traditional and the simplest approach Masked Stretch : may lead to a flatter image which need further image stretching Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch : a script approach to the final stretch
